In Mid-Air

8 JUN - 7 JUL
GALLERÍ ÚTHVERFA, ÍSAFIRÐI

In Mid-Air is an exhibition of new sculptures by Auður Lóa Guðnadóttir at Gallerí Úthverfa, Ísafjörður. The exhibition revolves around such themes as belonging/not belonging, green parrots in London’s parks and messages in bottles.

Auður Lóa lives and works in Reykjavík, having graduated from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2015 with a degree in Visual Arts. She has exhibited widely and in 2018 she received the Visual Arts Council’s Motivation Award for her exhibition Diana Forever. In spring 2021 she opened her first major private exhibition, Yes / No, at the Reykjavík Art Museum. Auður Lóa has concentrated on sculptures made of painted papier-mâché. This coarse, unruly material lends her works an eccentric and unconventional quality. With the use of this apparently light-weight material, she dives below the surface, offering unexpected angles on her subjects.
